Jesus of Nazareth was a Jewish laborer-turned-rabbi who lived around two thousand years ago and taught about the God who created the world. Jesus claimed to be the foretold Messiah, or 'Christ', the divine Son of God who was going to "give his life as a ransom for many". He promised eternal life and forgiveness of sins to everyone who believed in him, and performed miracles to validate his claims.

After three years of public ministry, he was arrested, crucified, and buried. Three days later he rose from the dead. He taught his stunned and overjoyed disciples for a few more weeks before ascending into heaven and promising to return. He instructed his disciples to make more disciples throughout the earth until he returned.

The Christian Medical Society is a group of medical and research professionals who are disciples of Jesus Christ - people who believe in Him and are committed to knowing and worshipping him and introducing others to him. Many denominations are represented in the group. The basic beliefs of the leaders are summarized in the Apostles' Creed.
